Termite Information
There are over 300 different species of termites in Australia. Out of those 300 species only about 30 species are of concern to existing buildings. Termites can travel underground for long distances, anywhere up to 100-150 meters. Termite queens can live for 30 years or more so once a nest has established itself the nest can be a problem for quite a long time. Generally people find damaged timber before they find the termites like a door frame, skirting board or window frame. Over time I have use various treatments and baiting systems but have found that the Exterra termite baiting system has been very effective against a termite infestation as Exterra targets the nest, so no large amounts of chemical are sprayed under or around the building to control the infestation.
